すし

すし が すき です! That's right, I love sushi. It seems to have gone from gross oriental thing to chic-increasingly-popular-foodie-delight. Smart on the part of americans since A) Japan rules and so does it's food B) Japanese have the world's longest life span C) For some reason almost every sushi place has a half off day. In order to help clarify the differences between the different types of sushi, here is a list to help break down the words.

Sashimi - Just cut pieces of fish, typically more expensive (more popular in japan)
Nigiri - A larger piece of fish on top of rice (more popular in japan)
Maki - sushi in a roll in such forms using nori (dried seaweed sheet)
Futomaki - Larger roll with nori wrapped on the outside, multiple fillings
Hosomaki - Like the Futomaki but smaller with one filling
Temaki - (hand roll) rolled with nori into a cone shape
Uramaki - Like Futomaki but rice is on the Outside (popular in US, not Japan)

There are a number of other kinds but if you ever find out about those, you probably don't need this list anymore.

また ね! - mata ne! - see you!
